In short

Rhubofix is dsm-firmenich's woody rhubarb material: a green-floral rhubarb effect over a dry, vetiver-like wood. It is the woody, lasting member of Firmenich's rhubarb family.

What Rhubofix smells like

dsm-firmenich classes Rhubofix as woody and describes a prominent floral green rhubarb effect with a grapefruit undertone and a vetiver-like side. The Good Scents Company calls it a complex woody, spicy, floral and fruity note with a green rhubarb effect. Fraterworks finds a dry woody core with vetiver-like facets and spicy warmth, the woody counterpart of the floral Rhuboflor.

What makes Rhubofix distinctive

Rhubarb anchored in wood: the green stalk note over a dry vetiver-like base.

Where the descriptions disagree: Sources weigh the woody-vetiver side against the floral-fruity rhubarb differently.

How Rhubofix is used

Used for a woody rhubarb effect in heart and base, from traces up to about 10%.

Typical role: modifier (used in small amounts to change the character of a blend).

How Rhubofix differs from similar materials

Symroxane
Symroxane is a vetiver-like wood with dried fruit and tobacco; Rhubofix sets a green rhubarb and grapefruit top over its dry, vetiver-like wood.
Vetikol Acetate
Vetikol acetate is a vetiver impression with grapefruit and rhubarb facets; Rhubofix leads with rhubarb, over a dry wood.

Each difference compares the published descriptions of the two materials. Smell varies with grade, supplier and dilution; compare them side by side on blotters before substituting one for another.

Safety and compliance

Hazard classification of the neat substance, as PubChem summarises it, read 26 October 2026. Companies notifying the ECHA C&L Inventory report it as not meeting the GHS hazard criteria (267 of 280 reports). Unless it is harmonised, this is the notifiers' own classification, not a binding one.
