In short

Symroxane is a Symrise woody methoxy ether with a vetiver-like character and dried-fruit and tobacco facets.

What Symroxane smells like

Symrise, as quoted by The Good Scents Company, describes Symroxane as woody and vetiver-like with dried-fruit and tobacco facets; Vigon gives vetiver and red fruit with spice, grapefruit and tobacco, and a trade report adds green pepper and amber. A perfumer on Basenotes found it very faint neat and soft, woody, a little green and spicy at 10%.

A vetiver-like wood with dried fruit in it.

How Symroxane is used

Used for woody-vetiver and tobacco effects in woody and oriental accords.

Typical role: modifier (used in small amounts to change the character of a blend).

How Symroxane differs from similar materials

Rhubofix
Rhubofix is green rhubarb over dry wood; Symroxane's vetiver-like wood carries dried fruit and tobacco instead.

Each difference compares the published descriptions of the two materials. Smell varies with grade, supplier and dilution; compare them side by side on blotters before substituting one for another.

Formulation considerations

Sources list more than one CAS number (676125-00-1, 393517-29-8, 393517-28-7); this record carries the one PubChem titles Symroxane.
