In short

Oud Maleki is a dsm-firmenich oud base, a mix of natural and synthetic materials, woody, resinous and smoky with animalic and amber aspects. Its composition is the maker's and is not published.

What Oud Maleki smells like

De Hekserij describes Oud Maleki as a pale yellow liquid, a mix of natural and synthetic materials, smelling of wood, resin, patchouli, vetiver and spice with smoky, animalic and amber aspects, used at about 0.1% to 5%. A dsm-firmenich demonstration formula for its Oud Assafi bases says Oud Maleki magnifies powdery, musky and woody notes, reinforcing the rose in a musky oud rose.

What makes Oud Maleki distinctive

An oud base described as reinforcing rose and musk rather than standing alone.

Where the descriptions disagree: A forum post says it contains a little natural oud; no official source confirms or denies it.

How Oud Maleki is used

Used to give an oud character in woody and rose-oud compositions; one maker's demonstration formula says it magnifies powdery, musky and woody notes.

Typical role: modifier (used in small amounts to change the character of a blend); fixative (slow to evaporate; helps a blend last and holds lighter notes).

Formulation considerations

A proprietary base; its composition is not published. A supplier lists hazard statements on its own sheet; follow the SDS for the product you hold.
