In short

Cassie absolute is extracted from the flowers of Vachellia farnesiana (formerly Acacia farnesiana). It is related to mimosa but spicier, with a powdery, violet-like floral odour.

What Cassie Absolute smells like

Cassie absolute, from Acacia farnesiana flowers, is a rich, sweet, warm, green, honey-floral with pronounced powdery and soft cinnamic-balsamic undertones. Firmenich lists floral-mimosa, honey, spicy, green, violet leaf and woody; another supplier adds spicy cinnamon-clove warmth and green violet-leaf facets. Its violet impression is linked to the ionones it contains. At low dosage it is delicate, velvety and powdery.

How Cassie Absolute differs from similar materials

Mimosa Absolute
A forum comparison describes cassie as greener and more diffusive; mimosa is more powdery, dusty and honeyed, with hay. (compared directly by a cited source)
Carnation Absolute
Carnation absolute is greener and more herbaceous, honeyed with clove; cassie is powdery and violet-like as well as spicy.

An asterisk marks a difference that a cited source states directly. The others compare the published descriptions of each material. Smell varies with grade, supplier and dilution; compare them side by side on blotters before substituting one for another.
