After the core levels and tracks

Perfumery Mastery and Research: Advanced Courses

Advanced courses for experienced perfumers and researchers: derivations, data, open questions and professional briefs, each ending in a research or professional project. Take a course once you have finished what it requires; within a course, take the lessons in order.

The courses

After Level 7, the Molecular Perfumery track and the Analytical Perfumery track

Advanced Perfumery Chemistry

Vapor-liquid equilibrium, evaporation, odor activity, autoxidation, reactions in ethanol and mass spectra, derived.

7 lessons · Outcome: A research dossier predicting how one material behaves in a formula from its physical chemistry, tested against published data, with every assumption named.

After Level 5 and the Research and Innovation track

Advanced Mathematics and Statistics for Perfumers

Formulas as linear systems, constrained optimization, mixture designs, Thurstonian d′, measurement uncertainty and PCA.

7 lessons · Outcome: A statistical study of one accord, from a mixture design through panel data to a model, with its uncertainty budget and its limitations stated.

After Level 5

Software and Computational Perfumery

Formula data models, Python checks, version diffs, molecular descriptors, model validation and the RUŌOD Lab app, precisely.

9 lessons · Outcome: A tested calculation script that reproduces an app’s figures for a real formula, a versioned record of that formula, and a written critique of one published odor-prediction model.

After Level 12 and the Creative Mastery track

Creative Master Perfumery

Accord architecture, texture and contrast, mixture interactions, signature, reconstruction and iterative development.

6 lessons · Outcome: A signature composition developed through a documented mod tree, with a written account of its architecture and a structured critique by someone else.

After Level 12 and the Regulatory and Quality Specialization track

Elite Professional Practice

Evaluation, supplier qualification, cost in use, compounding, trade secrets and creative leadership, ending in a capstone.

7 lessons · Outcome: An original research capstone presented as a professional submission, with its evidence, costs, constraints and open questions. It confers no qualification.

What you need

Each course says what it requires: a core level and one or two specialist tracks. Several lessons work through derivations and published data, and the computational course uses Python or a spreadsheet. Nothing here needs a laboratory instrument; where a method does, the lesson works from published data and says so.

How long it takes

Each course is months of work, and its project longer. These are written to challenge experienced practitioners: expect to read primary papers, check every derivation yourself, and disagree with some of them.
