In short
A formula record exists so someone can make the formula without asking you anything. The reference guide offers a template and explains each field. This study guide tests your documentation in the only way that counts.
What you will learn
- Fill in a complete formula record
- Test a record by having it used
Before this lesson: Material Substitutions: A Controlled Method
What to look for as you read
- Which fields you already keep, and which you have been skipping.
- Where the formula itself ends and its evaluation notes begin.
- Which fields a manufacturer or a safety assessor would ask for later on.
Practical exercise: Hand a formula over
- Fill in the template for your best accord.
- Give it to someone else, and ask them what they would need to ask you before they could weigh it. If nobody is available, put it away for a month, then try it yourself.
- Add what was missing.
- If you have the materials, weigh it from the record and compare the result with your original.
You have done this well if the reader had no question about what to weigh.
